I do not own a digital camera or my camera is not a Sony. Can I still attend a Digital Days Photo Workshop?
Yes. You do not need a digital camera of your own, nor do you need to have a specific brand of gear to attend. In fact, if you are planning to buy a digital camera, the Saturday class "Digital for Beginners" is the ideal workshop which will give you all the important information on digital photography, and by the end of the day you will be armed with all the facts to make an educated purchasing decision.
Digital Days is the perfect learning experience for all digital camera users with a brand-transparent curriculum. This photography workshop series is put together by Popular Photography, the world's largest imaging magazine, and will cover digital cameras and photography in general -- just as you have seen appear in the pages of our excellent publication. Sony is a wonderful sponsor and we wil be providing Sony digital cameras to use during our live shoot, but we encourage participants who own digital cameras to bring them along. It does not matter whether it is a brand-new or older model.
I am not sure which of the two workshops I should attend?
If you have been shooting for under a year or are still not familiar with the fundamentals like how aperture, shutter and depth of field affect each shot, the Saturday session will be the perfect photography class for you. If you have been shooting for longer or already know the fundamentals of digital photography then the Sunday session "Digital for Intermediate Users" would be more useful. If in doubt, select the Beginners. There will be a lot of information and training provided in the Beginners as well.It provides a thorough foundation to then build upon during Sunday's session. I have just started with digital photography, but would like to attend both the Digital for Beginners and Digital for Intermediate Users back-to-back to get a head start on the competition. May I do so?
Yes. This photography course is designed to build upon itself on the second day and perfect for someone in this situation. The Beginners is on Saturday and the Intermediate on Sunday making it very convenient to attend both workshops consecutively. Please keep in mind though, that some repetition and duplication is inevitable to maintain continuity and clarity.
How is the Intermediate class different from the Beginners?
Besides being a full-day session, some topics not suitable for beginners will be introduced in the Intermediate. Also, only Sunday has the hands-on live shoot and Image Critique portions of our photography workshop. In addition, some of the topics may be the same as in the Beginners, but the discussion will be at a more in-depth and advanced level. The afternoon portion of the Intermediate session really gets into all those crucial things you need to know about what to do with images in regards to workflow and editing; which translates into getting prints that look the way you want them.
What results should I see after attending a workshop?
At the end of the day whether you have never used a digital camera before or have been using one off and on, you will be very comfortable with the digital medium. You will not only be able to shoot comfortably by yourself, but also get excellent and professional looking images from even the most basic of digital cameras. In addition, you will be better able to integrate your shooting with computer editing and printing, all very essential steps in getting that perfect digital photograph.
What kind of hands-on experience will we get during the workshop?
There will be a 1 hour model shoot during Sunday's session. Sony digital cameras will be made available to participants on a first-come first-serve basis. Attendees will shoot live models with lighting that we set up, and potentially other subjects as available on the premises. During this part of the photo class, our instructors are both available to answer questions on any of your photography questions.
I am an experienced film photographer, but very new to computers and their terminology. I am concerned that I may not be able to follow a lot of the discussion.
Our instructors will be presenting all the digital terminology in such a cohesive way that it would make perfect sense even for those not technologically savvy, without oversimplifying the lesson. We use analogies and metaphors to make the photography lessons and digital transition click. Our teaching methods are time-tested and especially designed to make sense out of all the complexities of going digital.
I have a strong computer background, but do not know much about photography. Can Digital Days help me?
It certainly will. We shall be discussing the ingredients of taking a good photograph. Also there will be plenty of slide-show based teaching, as well as hands-on suggestions to improving your photography. The difference between a good photograph and a great one can be as simple as changing the angle of view, and our instructors will be showing you these tips that could make all the difference.

What time do the workshops begin and end?
The Saturday workshop is 1:00pm - 5:00pm. The Sunday photo workshop is 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Do you serve food and provide free parking?
We do not serve lunch but we do have a water station throughout, and fresh-brewed coffee is provided during breaks on both days. When the hotel offers us parking validations and/or discounted parking rates we provide that to you, but not every venue does this.
Should I bring a tripod?
We ask that you refrain from bringing your tripod to use during the model shoot due to room-size constraints. Monopods are ok.
